NBC’s official Olympic website describes Australia as located in central Europe:
Located in central Europe, bordered to the north by Germany and the Czech Republic, to the west by Switzerland and Liechtenstein, to the south by Italy and Slovenia, and to the east by Hungary and Slovakia. Is primarily mountainous with the Alps and foothills covering the western and southern provinces.
And people have been pointing it out for at least a day, and NBC is sticking to its story.
Which is awesome.
I really like how detailed they are with the description. Their interns may not know the difference between Australia and Austria, but they sure are thorough.

The upside to this is my flight to Germany in November just got 22 hours shorter!
There were T-shirts in Austria airport saying “Austria – no kangaroos” – always cracked me up
hilarious:D
Reblogged this on projectz.
I’ve been watching the whole NBC thing on Twitter. The Guardian wrote a story about how NBC presenters annoyed the viewers when they were broadcasting the recorded opening ceremony of the Olympics. I’m wondering how come NBC doesn’t take these things into consideration and change their mind.
😕
I’m an Aussie and I think this is simply brilliant! LOL
You should check out what they think the capital of Israel is too while you’re at it.
According to the site Israel is also in Europe and doesn’t have a capital! The only country in the Olympics without one.
@Homeless San Franciscan: Technically, Israel doesn’t have a capital that’s internationally recognized. (Source: Wikipedia)
Awesome!~
Ahahaha.. ..take a look (http://www.nbcolympics.com/nations/nation=serbia/index.html), apparently Serbia is located on the Adriatic coast of the Balkan peninsula etc. This is a joke. Somebody need lessons from geography and history. hihihi 😀
Nothing surprising, most of Americans know nothing about world geography.
According to Verizon, the US Basketball team is so versatile, it will also be playing Olympic tennis -> http://www.imgur.com/pq6yS.jpeg
Speaking of American Geography, see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmEp97yQcRQ Australia is both Iran and North Korea here 🙂
Wow the movement of the tectonic plates has gotten severe. Those couple of earth tremors we had last month obviously did more damage than we thought.
How could this story be posted WITHOUT the accompanying YouTube link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_LPRA6MUH_I
Sigh. At least they got our capital right (Canberra is home).
